Non-profit Institutions

You invest in the minds of tomorrow.
We support the best investments of today.

Churches, charitable foundations and associations perform significant social and socio-political tasks in our society. All financial decisions have to be taken to ensure their sustainability and effectiveness.

Specific expertise for non-profit organisations

Every religious institution, charity and society has specific needs and objectives. For advice on your investments, you rightly attach importance to a partner who not only has precise knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment, but also takes the time to understand your specific situation.

DekaBank is certified as a sustainable financial institution. We know the special requirements for capital investments that you face as a decision-maker for a non-profit organisation. Important issues include preservation of capital, sustainability, regular distributions and stringent risk management. We apply our expertise – gained over many years supporting non-profit institutions and their capital investments – to address these issues in a capable manner.

Your benefits:

  • Our specialists have many years of experience advising non-profit organisations.
  • We work with you to develop investment strategies tailored to your organisation.
  • We develop individual sustainability criteria to filter your investments.
  • We can offer you a wide range of investment processes and a broad spectrum of products.

Effects of the current market situation

Persistently low interest rates mean that non-profit organisations currently earn very little income from their capital investments. The need to act is correspondingly urgent.

Non-profit organizations are pillars of society. With sustainability and responsibility at their core.

Sustainability

Sustainable corporate governance as a success factor

By implementing a sustainability management function, DekaBank is making a clear commitment to sustainable corporate governance. Because, as a responsible bank, we assume social responsibility and ensure that the presentation of our business model and the use of the funds we raise is transparent. Sustainable corporate governance means planning further ahead and giving equal weight to the obligations we assume to our customers and to future generations.

Credible strategy
Investors demand defined sustainability criteria and a credible strategy. When it comes to investing their funds, churches and foundations not only expect capital protection and regular distributions, but also pursue their own individual social, ecological and ethical objectives.

One way in which we respond to the demand for responsibility and sustainability in our institutional business is by not managing assets that track the prices of basic foodstuffs. Nor do funds managed by Deka Investment invest in manufacturers of anti-personnel mines and cluster bombs.

Rewarding ‘good’ companies
Deka Sustainability funds also exclude from their investment universe those companies that generate more than 5% of their revenue from tobacco, gambling or armaments. Using a best-in-class approach, individual companies are selected and deemed ‘good’ if they act sustainably in terms of environmental, social and corporate governance criteria.

So, for many years, the Deka Group’s portfolio has included sustainable investment products which, in addition to reasonable performance, focus on the responsible use of ever-scarcer resources and the quality of life of current and future generations.

Transparency you can invest in

Invest responsibly with Deka sustainability funds

Deka Investment GmbH offers excellent investment prospects in sustainable companies by means of investments in the following funds:

A decision to purchase Deka investment funds should only be based on the key investor information, the sales prospectus and the reports for the individual funds, which you can obtain in German from your savings bank or Landesbank. They are also available from DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale, 60625 Frankfurt, and the online fund description.

The European transparency logo for sustainable funds indicates that Deka Investment GmbH has committed to providing correct, appropriate and timely information in order to give interested parties, particularly clients, the opportunity to understand the sustainable investment approach and methods used by the individual funds.

Detailed information about the European SRI Transparency Code can be found at www.eurosif.org. The European RSI transparency logo stands for the fund manager’s commitment as described above. It should not be understood as recommending a particular company, organisation or individual.

Opportunities for action

Portfolio modification for non-profit organisations

We help non-profit organisations to re-examine their current investment policy, to identify opportunities for optimisation and to make use of any available potential for earning additional returns. To preserve and increase assets it is necessary to structure the investment portfolio according to market criteria. An investment in high-return or high-potential asset classes helps non-profit organisations to reach their return targets and, at the same time, to meet their other requirements for investing the organisation’s assets.

Optimised portfolio structuring for higher returns.
